Adams County Health Center

The general service area for Adams County Health Center (ACHC) is situated in the picturesque west central portion of the state, surrounded by mountains, lakes and rivers. The sparsely populated county offers boundless outdoor recreational opportunities including camping and hiking, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling. ACHC is located in the county seat of Council, only 35 miles south of Brundage Mountain Resort, which boasts excellent snow skiing in winter and mountain biking in summer.

Adams County Health Center was designated as a Federally Qualified Health Center effective December 1, 2004 and seeks to provide high quality health care services to residents of Adams County and the surrounding area, regardless of social or economic status. Home to approximately 3500 residents and encompassing 1,365 square miles, the county is designated as a Primary Care, Dental and Mental Health Professional Shortage Area, as well as a Medically Underserved Population area.

About Us

Council Community Hospital/Nursing Home closed on March 15, 2002 leaving a free-standing rural health clinic. The nearest hospitals are located approximately one hour to the north and south of Council. The clinic struggled with providing services to the community with very little income in 2003. It was clear that the clinic would not survive the next two to five years and the community would be left without adequate health care services. In June of 2004, the clinic applied for a Federally Qualified Health Center designation. The designation was awarded on December 1, 2004 and Adams County Health Center was born. ACHC has been able to provide continued quality health care to the community and expand access to additional services.
