Idaho SEARCH: Student/Resident Experiences and Rotations in Community Health
The Idaho SEARCH Program, which began in 1998, provides health professional students and residents with a quality training opportunity in a medically underserved area in Idaho.
The Idaho SEARCH Program is pleased to accept the following students/residents:
- Medical Students
- Family Practice Residents
- Physician Assistant Students
- Nurse Practitioner Students
- Dental Residents
- Dental Students
- Dental Hygiene Students
- Master of Social Work Students
SEARCH experiences include profession-specific as well as multi-disciplinary clinical activities. Participants are placed in 4 - 6 week rotations at approved sites and are awarded a $500 living & travel allowance and $40 per day up to 25 days for time spent in clinic. There are 30 rotation awards made annually.
We have participating sites all over the state. Although we do have a few in larger towns, most sites are in rural areas. Each student is assigned a Clinical Preceptor and a Community Mentor and a community/clinic project ranging in topics and intensities is required.
We hope that completing such a rotation might encourage you to work in an underserved area when you begin your career!
